It’s been chilly the past few days, feeling like full on fall is here, but today is sunny and warm with a very crisp autumn chill in the air.
This time of the year makes me feel incredibly nostalgic for days long since past.
It isn’t a sad nostalgia where I wish I was back in high school. I hated high school, but I have some fond memories of after school Starbucks runs. Sitting outside in September with my friend Liz when it really felt like autumn, but we were young and didn’t care and had coffee so it was good.
Listening to Depeche Mode’s Music for the Masses in October elicits some emotion I can’t quite put a finger on. But something stirs in the back of my mind, gently reminding me of a time that seems like ages ago.
All these things stir happy memories, and because I associate them with this season, I suppose it all gets melded into that big, warm fuzzy feeling I get when I think about all the other things I love above autumn.
When the end of August hits, I start to romanticize the end of summer and the coming of fall. Something creative stirs in me, but also something homely (I go craft crazy this time of year.)
