A Few Days in London 2018

In September I fulfilled a dream of going abroad for something work related and attended Generate Conference in London. I had a great few days at the conference and stayed at the Athenaeum Hotel in Mayfair which was an absolute dream. I’m extremely humbled and grateful that my position at work allows me to travel and experience things I normally wouldn’t get to do personally.

Athenaeum Hotel

Shepherd Market was just a short walk away from the hotel and provided a number of dining options that I kept coming back to during the week.

My favorite dinner was at Titu, an asian fusion restaurant. The space was small and cozy and the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken and foie gras gyoza was amazing and highly recommended by the staff.

Most of my time was spent at the conference, so I wandered about in the evenings and did some shopping and then continued eating my way through Soho and Mayfair.

I had one full day to myself on the weekend before I took a short personal trip up to Scotland. I did my own walking tour of Belgravia using a guide from A Lady in London.

I eventually made my way to The Fine Cheese Co, Belgravia where I had a delicious cheese board made for me and sipped on some wine before continuing my wandering down the rainy streets to Harrods. I popped in Harrods for a quick wander about.

And then exhausted, made my way back to my hotel to pack up and prepare for an early departure from Kings Cross. It was a very quick trip but it felt so good to be back in London and it was one of the highlights of my year. I did quite a bit of work travel from August to November and I love that part of my job: hopping around the world to connect with people in the web development and design community.

The first part of 2018 started with absolutely no travel planned whatsoever and then I packed a good 3 months of it in. It was fantastic if not exhausting. I hope 2019 will allow me to experience more of the same.
