Valley of the Sun

DSCN1548

Last week I went to spend a few days in Mesa with my mom.  The desert landscape and the history of the people who inhabited and survived there is so intriguing to me.  The heat was a nice escape from rainy and wet Seattle, and it was almost 40 degrees warmer down there then the Pacific Northwest! It’s a drastic change but to feel that sun hit your skin and soak in is a beautiful thing.

We went up to Scottsdale and visited the Poisoned Pen, which is a local, independent  bookstore where Outlander author Diana Gabaldon frequents and they also carry all of her books, signed copies too, and I wanted to pick up one of those, which I happily did.  We went and had lunch at Salty Señorita, where I had the best enchiladas I’ve had since being in Cabo San Lucas, so that says something and it’ll be a place to return to. We did some more shopping, visited the Desert Botanical Garden, just a bit north of Tempe, and visited In n Out Burger (of course). It was a quick trip but it was nice to see my mom and soak up some sun.
