Washington D.C. Photo Diary

The end of July had me attending another conference for work in a place I’ve never been!

I’ve never really been anywhere on the East Coast except for New York City. I’ve always wanted to visit Vermont or New England in the autumn though. That’s still on the bucket list but there’s so much history in Washington D.C. & my brother has been there for a few years attending medical school, so I took the weekend before the conference to visit and hang out in Georgetown.

Long story short, I’m in love with Georgetown and it’s architecture. Washington D.C. in general is pretty neat if you love history, which I do!

It was awfully humid, which my PNW-soul isn’t used to at all. I stayed at the Westin Georgetown and took a Lyft to the conference which was on the other side of the river in Arlington. If I’m going somewhere for a conference I don’t want to feel confined by the location of the hotel, so I’m glad I stayed where I did.

Overall the panel I helped to run at the conference was a success and I’m happy I got to take two days on the weekend to see my brother, who I hadn’t seen since June of 2017.

Next up, I’m headed back to Edinburgh to give my very first conference talk! I’m super excited and am feeling so unbelievably lucky with the professional opportunities my role at work as opened for me. September through October is going to be absolutely bonkers with travel for me so I’ll try to update when I can. I’ve got a few posts in the queue I just haven’t quite put the finishing touches on them yet.

xx
Stephanie
